The days on the long road of one families Ethiopian Adoption

This blog started out as a way to record the twists, turns, highs and lows in my families journey to adopt siblings from Ethiopia. Now our children are home and we have just finished celebrating our first year as a family.

I'm Kimberly (or Fendesha), an adventurous person who aspires to be a vagabond- but for now- I spend all of my free time travelling and my down time thinking of travelling. I'm a mom of 3 (the oldest being my gorgeous canine companion), a IT project manager, and on occasion I find myself the primary writer of this blog.

Happy Reading and thank you for stopping by.

Loving life in Ethiopia!!! Happy Easter

I'm being sneaky and a good friend got me access to blogger... GRIN. Amazing how many little hackers there are in this world-laugh.

Our kids are doing great. Debritu is looking at me when I feed her now and she fell asleep in my arms the other day- BIG GRIN!!!! She had her hair done with little colorful rubber bands. My heart melts when I think of how cute I find her. Imagine I wondered if I would find my children attractive-laugh. Now I can answer and say-yes-absolutely-With out a doubt...

Habtamu no longer wants to share me with his friends. He was running around with my "Life is good" baseball cap on-and it cracked me up.. He loves to play soccer and they are both healthy. Debritu has an ear-ache for a while and was put on medication -but is looking better and Habtamu has a check up the other day-but he looked fine going.

We are so excited to have our travel dates- it's bitter sweet really. I'm in love with Ethiopia as you all know-but I'm anxious to come home and start our family. It looks like we will be home on May 3rd barring any challenges. Not that I'll mind the extra time if we are gifted with it-laugh.

Missing you all.

Happy Easter!
Kimberly

We have travel dates!!

Well we got our travel dates! Denis will be traveling on the 17th via Ethiopian Air. We predicted our return travel date pretty accurately, so we didn't have to move Kim's return ticket which was already booked for April 3rd. So if all goes well, we will all be home on April 4th. Obviously, we are extremely excited. Now all we have to do is put up a few baby gates, pay some bills and in exactly 1 month from today we will be introducing Habtamu and Debritu to their new home :)

We became parents yesterday!

Well its been about 22 months since we submitted our paper work and officially were placed on the waiting list for our adoption. We are exited to announce to everyone that we are now officially parents! We got word from our adoption agency yesterday that we had "passed court". This means that we are the legal guardians of Habtamu and Debritu. Because we are their parents I'm very happy to include this picture of OUR children and my beautiful bride. There really isn't anything more to add other to say that we are elated and relieved to be through this part. For anyone reading this who hasn't been keeping score, this basically means that we will be told soon (next couple of days) when we are expected to be at the US embassy in Addis Ababa to receive the necessary US immigration paperwork so we can take them home. So, I can not yet say when we will be home with the kiddos, but probably in early May. I'll post more as I get more information. Thank you everyone for your continued support.
